About Foundations

Who We Are

Foundations College Prep is a new public 6-12 school serving students on Chicago’s Far South Side. In the fall of 2014 we will begin enrolling 6th-8th grade students. Our vision is to empower under-served youth to thrive in college and life by teaching them to think critically, live with honor and strive for a better self and world.

Why We Exist

Of 100 9th graders in neighborhood high schools in Chicago’s Greater Roseland Community:

Our Mission

The following goals encompass our mission and help us achieve our vision.

We will:

Serve all students in a safe, supportive environment

Provide students a rigorous college preparatory education

Prepare each individual student for college and career

Compel students to become positive change-agents within our community

Build systems that attract, develop, maximize and retain excellent teachers

Core Beliefs

Students of all backgrounds can achieve at the highest levels.

Great teachers and great schools transform lives.

Kids – and college readiness – are more than just numbers.

Serving all students well – and keeping them at our school – is a top priority.

Children who come to school with less deserve more from our schools.

This “more” cannot rest solely on teachers. Teachers also need sufficient support, resources and time.

Parents, families, and the community are central partners to our school.

Improving high-performing schools’ productivity and sustainability is essential.

Students and parents deserve full transparency and meaningful accountability.

Core Values
